STAM1NA, MOKOMA, BARREN EARTH Honored At FINNISH METAL AWARDS

STAM1NA, MOKOMA and BARREN EARTH are among the artists that were honored at the Finnish Metal Awards, which was held Saturday night (February 19) during the Finnish Metal Expo (the main event of Helsinki Metal Meeting) at the Cable Factory in Helsinki, Finland.

Members of the Finnish metal media pre-selected the candidates and the people cast their votes to select the winners, which were as follows:

Band Of The Year: STAM1NA
Record Of The Year: STAM1NA - "Viimeinen Atlantis"
Musician Of The Year: Tuomas Saukkonen (BEFORE THE DAWN)
Vocalist Of The Year: Antti Hyyrynen (STAM1NA)
Cover Art Of The Year: MOKOMA - "Sydänjuuret"
Newcomer Of The Year: BARREN EARTH
Demo Band Of The Year: FROSTTIDE

The seventh annual Helsinki Metal Meeting was held February 17-19, 2011 in Helsinki. Crowd favorites of the weekend were SABATON, SYMFONIA, TRIPTYKON, ACCEPT and KVELERTAK.

Progressive metallers ODDLAND won the Suomi Metal Star band contest on Saturday, February 19 and landed a deal with Century Media Records.
